Nine Lights (feat. Mom Tudie)

A 1 track avant garde jazz single (4m 2s) — released January 27th 2023 on Lordship Loft Recordings

Eriksson Kaner and Mom Tudie have been through their respective musical journeys together since the very beginning. Meeting in sixth-form when they were 16, they began making music together in their free time. Nine Lights represents the days between them being born, and reflects the closeness of their musical collaboration. Despite their genres being quite contrasting, their connection has always made it easy for them to leave those barriers behind and just create what the music they want to hear.

Nine Lights combines elements of Mom Tudie's electronic production using natural samples with Eriksson Kaner's live and unrefined upright piano sound - recorded at Mom Tudie's parent's house like they've always done. The song has a palindromic nature, with phrases increasing in intensity and length, and then the opposite - based on folk-like melodies composed and hummed to each other on the spot, some of which can be heard in the recording which contributes to that home-made feel of the music. With additional instruments recorded by Rudi Creswick on double bass, Tamsy Kaner on Cello and Lluis Domenich Plana on flutes. The outro to this song, unconnected to the palindrome, connects this song to the next single featuring debutant Zach Francis - another long term collaborator of Eriksson Kaner's and marking their first official release together.

Mom Tudie has has significant successes with his releases over the years, earning him 5 million overall streams on Spotify and sold out headline shows around london, as well as being a highly sought after DJ. Eriksson Kaner is a member of the Levitation Orchestra, and when not under his jazz moniker, is a classical musician under his real name, Leif Kaner-Lidstrom, performing in concert halls around the world.
